ACCIDENT AND CRIMINAL REPORTS

To obtain an accident or criminal report, please come in during business hours. There is a $20 fee for all reports.

TRAFFIC CITATIONS

To pay a traffic citation, you may make payment in person at the Ranson Police Department, mail in a check or money order or pay over the phone with a credit card. We accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover.

You have 30 days from the date of the citation to make payment in full. However, if you wish to start a payment plan, please come into the office within 30 days of the citation to set one up. We require 30% down, and you will have 90 days to pay off the remaining balance.

FINGERPRINTING SERVICES

Effective October 7, 2008, the Ranson Police Department will charge for fingerprinting. The applicable fee shall be:

• Non-government (Ranson Citizen) $ 5.00
• Non-government (non-Ranson Citizen) $10.00
• Government (non-law enforcement) $ 5.00
• Government (law-enforcement) No Fee

YARD SALE/GARAGE SALE PERMITS

Yard Sale Permits can be obtained at the Ranson Police Department. There is a $5.00 fee for the permit.

IMPORTANT CONDITIONS OF PERMIT

Yard Sales MUST be conducted at an occupied residence, and are limited to one household only. They may NOT be conducted at a business or on commercial property.

No more than three licenses may be issued to any single residence within the City during a 12-month period.

Advertisements are to be restricted to yards, garage, or household where sale is to be conducted. Any sign displayed on public, city, or state property will be removed by the department.

Signs designating yard sales shall not exceed four square feet and shall bear the name of the permittee. Signs shall not obstruct view and shall be removed immediately after the sale has ended.

The permit should be displayed in the front window or other prominent location where it is clearly visible from the street at the location where the sale is to be conducted.

All sidewalks, walkways and driveways shall be kept clear and uncongested of sale items.

Penalty for violation of the provisions of Chapter 6, Section 43 of the Ranson Municipal Code has been set at not less than $100 or more than $1,000.

DIRECTIONS TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT

We are located on the corner of East 13th Avenue and North Preston Street, in Ranson.

From Charles Town: Take Mildred Street, make a right on E. 13th Avenue, proceed to the stop sign and Ranson Police Derpartment is on the left.

From Martinsburg: Take Rt. 9 East to Currie Road, make a right on Currie Road. Make a left onto Rt. 115N (Mildred Street). Proceed approximately two miles and make a left on E. 13th Avenue, proceed to the stop sign and Ranson Police Department is ahead on the left.
